Default How do I reset factory format defaults?

Some how I have successfully messed up the formatting in my software. When I
highlight a line to do some formatting on - it updates that line and
everything else in the document in the same fashion. I can click off the
line and click the undo and "most" of the time it changes everything back but
the line I wanted to change. Want to find a way to reset all settings in the
software. We have done a repair on the software with no changes.
