I install MS Office 2003 on XP box. Then I open up a word document, it comes
up with blue blackground. I go to Tools Options General Blue
Background, white text and tick it out. It pop-up with "The number must be
betwen 1 and 1638"
Pls. help me fix this problem.

Are you still having the problem? Can't say I've ever heard of it before...
Have you tried using Detect and Repair in the Help menu?

How about if you hold down Ctrl when starting Word, so that it goes into Safe
Mode? Do you still get the problem then?
