Under the Format menu, select Columns and choose 2 columns. That will apply

If there is text above and below the selected text, Word takes care of
inserting the two Continuous breaks. There is, however, a Compatibility Option that affects whether columns above a Continuous break are balanced. -- Suzanne S. That's it! Your selected text should now be formatted in two columns. If you want to change it back to a single column layout, simply select the text again and choose One from the Columns drop-down menu.
