Default print 5.5 x 8.5 pages side by side on a 8.5 x 11 landscape sheet?

I want to print pages with a manual page code side on a single page of paper
in land scape

I don't know about a manual page code, but perhaps you're referring to
something like http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/Print2Pages.htm? If you
have Word 2000 or above, this is not necessary, as you can choose the "2
pages per sheet" option in the Page Setup dialog and get two pages to a
sheet with automatic page numbering.
