Default When typing text Style changes to Heading 1 for no apparent reason

I am keying text into a blank document and sometimes (normally after a
carriage return and then a blank line) the style changes to Heading 1 and the
preceeding text is altered to have the font attributes etc of Heading 1.

How do I stop this happening?

I always want to to stay in NORMAL style.

Thank you.

In the Modify Style dialog box
(http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styl...fyAStyle.html), check the
setting for "Style for following paragraph." Change it to "Normal" if
necessary.

On the AutoFormat As You Type tab of Tools | AutoCorrect Options, clear the
check box for "Define styles based on your formatting." See also

Indeed, that would seem a more likely solution, in this case.
