Default Long doc text doesn't hold

Hi again. I am editing a 480 page book for someone who
gave me many, many quotes he cut and pasted from the
Internet, etc. I finished the project, then formatted
into a 5 X 8 style that the author requested. However:
l. The text does not stay in place when I e-mail him the
document.
2. I cannot convert some of the quotes into the new
format (justified on both sides). Is there anything I
can do?

Thank you all.

Where does it go?

Thanks, but I don't know what "delete the hard returns"
means.
