Office 2003 Biz all My files ( word, excel ...) open real, real slowly and I
tried what has been suggested in the discussion groups. I have also re
installed office.
Yes, I deleted the DATA folder in the registry, I could not find the
normal.dot file. I found a folder in office called normal in THEMES11. No
..dot file in there. Just a .elm and inf file.

I when I double click on any file word, excel it take over a minute or more
to open up. If I open up word first, which is fast, then drag and drop it
open right up fast. This happens with open files, new files just made.

I use free AVG anti virus software. Could that be it? Also link from
emails are real real slow opening up in a browser.

Your help is great appreciated.

I had a similar problem, and found that the HP digital imaging monitor in the
system tray was to blame. Once I killed that (and removed it from my startup
menu) the problem went away.
