Default Spell Check (Word 2000)

My document contains many misspelled words. But, SPELLING AND GRAMMAR isn't
finding any of the errors (it just says THE SPELLING CHECK IS COMPLETE).

How do I fix this problem?

Make sure you have the text set to the correct language (and not to 'Do not
check spelling or grammar'). Make sure you have a dictionary installed for
the language you are using.

....and while language is a character/font level formatting attribute, you'll
find it under Tools - Language rather than under Format. Go figure...
