You cannot copy and paste this formula - certainly not from here, nor from
the support page. You must create it using CTRL+F9 for each pair of field boundaries. This is explained in the support example you quoted. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org CmK wrote: HI When I copy and paste the formula { IF { MERGESEQ } = "1" "{ MERGEFIELD CITY }¶ " "" }{ SET Place1 { MERGEFIELD CITY }}¶ { If { Place2 } { Place1 }"¶ { MERGEFIELD CITY }¶ ¶ { MERGEFIELD EMPLOYEE } { MERGEFIELD SALES }" "{ MERGEFIELD EMPLOYEE } { MERGEFIELD SALES }" }{ SET Place2 { MERGEFIELD CITY }}¶ in my mail merge for the microsoft support example 294686 it doesnt work I dont know whats a mergeseq Am i suppose to change any of the fields thanks |

In addition to Graham's comments:
a. { MERGESEQ } is the number of records that have been merged into the main document. b. { MERGESEQ } will probably not have a numeric value when you are previewing data, and will only get one when you actually merge. Have you done it exactly as the article describes, using ctrl-F9 to insert
all the {} as Graham suggested? Have you then tried actually doing the merge to an output document (don't just preview the merge)? I'm not saying "it will definitely work": what I'm saying is "try it and tell us what does not work" Peter Jamieson "CmK" wrote in message ...
