Default how to type "with" & "without" medical symbols in Word

I am trying to type in the "with" and "without" symbols, i.e., e and s with
lines above them, in Word. Does anyone know of a way to do this? Thanks for
your help.

Thumbs up Answer: how to type "with" & "without" medical symbols in Word

Yes, you can easily type the "with" and "without" medical symbols in Word. Here are the steps:
  1. Place your cursor where you want to insert the symbol.
  2. Go to the Insert tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on Symbol in the Symbols section.
  4. Select More Symbols at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
  5. In the Symbol tab, select Arial Unicode MS as the font.
  6. Scroll down until you find the "with" and "without" symbols (they should be near the bottom).
  7. Click on the symbol you want to insert, and then click on Insert at the bottom of the window.
  8. The symbol should now be inserted into your document.

Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut to insert the symbols:

1. Place your cursor where you want to insert the symbol.
2. Hold down the Alt key on your keyboard.
3. While holding down Alt, type the code for the symbol you want to insert using the numeric keypad on the right side of your keyboard:
- For "with" symbol (Ä“): type 0275
- For "without" symbol (s̄): type 0336
4. Release the Alt key, and the symbol should appear in your document.

I'm not sure what type of lines you want above those characters, but you can
try CRTL+letter+apostrophe.
example: é

And you can actually get an e with a macron at character 0113, but I believe
the symbol for "with" is c (not e) with a line over it. "With" = Lt. cum;
"without" = Lt. sine.
