Default am i able to revert document to what it was before the last save?

i have overwritten a previous document by accident by clicking the save tab
button instead of save as. can i revert it back to the previous document or
is it forever lost?

If you have Tools options save always create backup. The backup is the
previously saved version.
If you have not yet closed the document (fat chance) you can use Undo to
take you back to the point where you opened it.
Otherwise you would need a backup of the original.
This shows how unwise it is to open wanted documents as the basis of new
documents. Create your documents from templates.
