Default Changing standard numbers into Numbering

Hey all,

I just recently downloaded a Google Doc to my computer and opened it in Microsoft Word 2007. The document is essentially a numbered list of short paragraphs.

However, the numbers in front of the paragraphs are just normal numbers, not the numbers produced when you set up "Numbering" in Word. Thus, if I click return after one of my items, it doesn't automatically add a new number to the left of my cursor and re-number all my other items to accomodate for the new inserted paragraph.

How can I convert my standard numbers to the "Numbering" that is automatically managed by Word WITHOUT having to delete all my numbers manually and then applying "Numbering" to my paragraphs?

Thanks!
