How to change the name of a style
You can rename custom styles using the Organizer dialog box. To open the
dialog, click Tools | Templates and Add-Ins, and then click the Organizer button. Built-in styles cannot be renamed, but you can add a style name alias: In the Modify Style dialog box, just enter a comma (or whatever is the list separator character for your operating system) and type in the alias. When you are done, click OK. To open the dialog box, you can right-click the style name in the Styles and Formatting pane and choose Modify from the context menu. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "gary" wrote in message news I have used some styles and their nme is no longer descriptive. Format, Styles and Formatting or the Double-A icon on the Formatting toolbar
will bring up the Task Pane that will allow you to modify the styles, including renaming. Hope this helps DeanH "gary" wrote: I have used some styles and their nme is no longer descriptive. How to change the name of a style
Hi Gary,
I'd like to add some details to Dean's response. Styles are stored in a template. Therefore, you should first open a document (it could be a new document) based on the template in which your styles are stored. The default template is Normal.dot. Follow Dean's steps to open the Styles and Formatting task pane. In the Styles and Formatting task pane, right-click the name of the style whose name you want to change, and then click Modify. (If you don't see the name of the style, under Show at the bottom of the task pane, choose All Styles.) In the Modify Style dialog box, in the Name box, type the new name for the style. Before clicking OK, select the Add to template check box. This will save the new name in the template and not just in the cument document. -- Hope this helps, Pesach Shelnitz My Web site: http://makeofficework.com "DeanH" wrote: Format, Styles and Formatting or the Double-A icon on the Formatting toolbar will bring up the Task Pane that will allow you to modify the styles, including renaming.
