Default Spacing in Document has Changed By Itself

I typed and saved a document. Now when I bring it back up on the screen both
the amount of space between characters has increased and the space between
lines has increased. All the files in this one directory have this new look
when I bring them up on the screen. However, documents in another directory
look like they are supposed to look when pulled up on the screen. What is
going on with the documents in this one directory?
