Default Fields in header

Hi,
I currently have some fields inserted into the body of a report.
Field is as follows: { DOCVARIABLE AO \& CLIENTSTATEID \* FORMAT[000 000
000] \* MERGEFORMAT }.
This displays fine however the problem i experience is when i insert this
field into a header and it is refreshed, i receive "Error! Unknown Switch
Argument".
Removing the \* Format[000 000 000] is the only method to correct the error,
however i need the field shown in this format with spaces.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can't simply make up your own formatting switch names. You have to use
those provided

What you probably need is { DOCVARIABLE AO \& CLIENTSTATEID \* # "'['000'
'000' '000']'" }

See http://www.gmayor.com/formatting_word_fields.htm
