How do you insert roman numerals into a word document? I assume you don't want the simple answer, "type them". If you want Word to figure out for you what the representation of the number should be, you need a field. Start by typing an equal sign, the number in arabic numerals, and the formatting switch as follows (upper case or lower case according to what you want the result to be): = 2004 \*ROMAN Select the whole expression and press Ctrl+F9 to make it into a field. See the help topics "Format (\*) field switch" and "Field codes: = (Formula) field" for more information. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org |

Type them as ordinary text. There are Unicode characters for roman numerals,
but they appear only in "large" Unicode fonts such as Arial Unicode MS and are quite ugly. -- Suzanne S.
