I can't figure out how to get the paragraph symbols and all the other marks
off of my documents. Somehow every document I open has the formatting
showing. Even things I saved yesterday that were not set up this way, as well
aas docs that I did last year.

Please help!

There's a button at the top that looks like two paralell vertical bars, with
a lump on the left. It's called the "show all" button and it typically comes
up next to the zoom window. Toggle (click) it to turn all that stuff off.

Click the ¶ button on the Standard toolbar to toggle display of
