I have previously made headings with reverse type, or black fields with white
type. How did I do this?

Right-click in the cell and select Borders and Shading, on the Shading tab
select the color and in Apply to select Cell. Click OK.

To change the font color select Format Font and under Font color select
the color (in this case, white). ClickO OK and type as usual.

You changed the background of the text to black and left the color of the
text on Automatic, would be my guess.

Select the cells you want and right click. Select Borders and Shading,
Shading. Look in the window called Pattern and click on the down arrow to
open the list. Select Black and you are in business.
