Default template header will not save

I have created a template from an existing document that had headers and
footers. When I save it as a template (.dotx - 2007), it does not give me
any sort of error, but if I close and reopen the template or try to open a
new document from it, the entire header (text and image) is gone. The footer
is still there. I tried pasting it into a blank template in case it was a
problem with that particular document, but no luck. I've read through
several other threads here, but none were the same problem - it is not a
whitespace issue and I am not trying to attach the template. I even read
through a couple of deifferent tutorials on creating letterhead to make sure
I wasn't missing a step, still nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Default template header will not save

Note that each section of a Word document or template can have up to three
headers (and three footers), namely if you enable "Different odd and even"
as well as "Different first page" in the Page Setup dialog box. You may be
saving your header text in a header that isn't visible (for example the even
header in a one-page template). For more on headers and footers, see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/HeaderFooter.htm.

The other possibility is that your template is corrupt. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm.

Default template header will not save

Thanks for the reply - I had actually already looked at the sbarnhill faq,
which is very well done, but it didn't address the problem I was having. I
ended up recreating the headers and footers from scratch (they were copied
from another company's contract which we were modifying) and they worked
correctly after that, so perhaps they were corrupt.
