I am looking for a template which can be used to track the progression of an
enquiry as it is followed up, then turned into a quote and unltimately into
an order

suggested fields are as follows:-
Enquiry date
Customer name
Address
tel. no

product

Quote reference

link into copy of quote ( if possible)

follow up details
date , who spoken to, action ( Initials of internal person being actioned)

date order received
special instructions

expected order dispatch

date of dispatch

Follow up

Assuming you have more than one of these to deal with, do it propertly and
invest in a CRM application like ACT or Goldmine.
