Default "file" command in Word

I am disabled. while about to select this command and open a file my elbow
touched the controls of my chair which caused me to move the mouse up and
down, and for some reason this deleted the whole column of "file" and left me
unable to operate Word. My computer refuses the "restore" command for any of
the dates which it accepts as being restore dates.
What now?

If I understand you correctly, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...oreMenuCmd.htm for how to
restore it.
