Default Multiple Word windows

How can I make Word stop opening a new window everytime I open a document? I
know that in 2000, Microsoft gave us this new "feature", but it annoys the
daylights out of me. I heard that in Word 2003 you could make it go away,
but I can't figiure out how.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Tools Options View, uncheck "Windows in Taskbar".

In Word 2002 and 2003, click on Tools | Options | View | uncheck
the "Windows in Taskbar" box | OK.
