Word open slow
This troubleshooting may help,
Slow when accessing the file located on a server You experience slow performance when you open, save, close, delete, ... Hi all
i have a wearied problem? i have a server with windows 2k SBS installed, also i have number of clients with Win XP SP2 ?and MS word 2003 SP2? when i try to open anything from the server its works great but the problem that when i try to open a file (document, template, or even text file) using word ?it take a lot of time.? when i open the same file using another application (ex: Notepad)? its opened as usual.? i tried many thing like installing a local printer and use it as default resets the fonts to default also i copied documents to a client shared folder and its opened fast? and if i try to open it from my drive (not mapped) its also opened fast please help Fadi |

i'll check tomorrow and post back. but about the topic you send, ======================= Causes: 1. The server has a backup software running. No. 2. A ant-virus software is scanning on the server. i tried to stop it with no chance. 3. A backup software agent or Open Transaction Manager is installed on your computer. I'll check. 4. The server has RAID 5/10 and one of Hard Disks is failed. No. 5. The server has a hardware issue. I'll check, but it seems not. how could i know?! Thanks in advance. This problem can also be caused by ACT!8. The preload setting needs to be
changed from -stayrunning to -preload in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run |
