Ruler disappears in Word
At work I startup Word each day with the Ruler displayed. It then keeps
disappearing and I keep going in to View Ruler to display it again. Funnily enough, it never happens at home where I have the same versions of Word and Windows running. I have noted Suzanne's info about General tab in Options and will compare that at work. Thanks Suzanne. As Suzanne said Word has a habit of turning it off - maybe I wil have to live with that, just funny that it does not happen at home where I generate all my macros that I use at work. -- Jo |

Ruler disappears in Word
Hi ?B?Sm9zZQ==?=,
At work I startup Word each day with the Ruler displayed. It then keeps disappearing and I keep going in to View Ruler to display it again. Funnily enough, it never happens at home where I have the same versions of Word and Windows running. I have noted Suzanne's info about General tab in Options and will compare that at work. In almost fifteen years I have NEVER experienced Word simply "turning off" the ruler for no reason. If the setting isn't sticking, and deleting the DATA key doesn't solve the problem (article on word.mvps.org for restoring settings stored in the Registry), then I'd suspect a macro on the system that's causing this. Which version of Word? Ruler disappears in Word
Word doesn't turn off the ruler in any window in which I have it displayed,
but it frequently opens without the ruler (despite the fact that it is always displayed when I close Word), and it frequently opens new document windows without it. Since this happens intermittently throughout a working day in which Word (and indeed Document1) is continuously open, it is entirely too random (IMO) to be the work of any add-in, and I have no macros except in add-ins that load at startup (and only three of those: DataPrompter, TaskPaneController, and PDFMaker; it I had to indict one, it would be the last g). -- Suzanne S. Ruler disappears in Word
One of my coworkers is having a problem with the ruler changing from inches
to points whenever she creates a PDF document. If a resolution is determined, I will post results. "Suzanne S.
