prints more than one copy and other issues
When I click on the print icon in Word 2003, the printer (HP 5500)
automatically prints 2 copies, when it used to print only 1 - even though I only clicked once. Sometimes when I click print on the IE 6 toolbar I also get duplicate copies. When I click on Print, under File, everything works fine. When I click on a picture to decrease its size with the mouse, the Format Picture dialog box appears. This has been happening for a couple of weeks. When I try to left click on text to highlight it with the mouse, some of the words in the highlighted text switches positions instead of being highlighted, or some words are highlighted and not others. After finishing a procedure using one of the icons in Word, and slide the mouse to another area of the Word screen, another procedure starts. For instance, when I clicked "Help," closed that screen and slid the mouse back to the screen, my printer turned on and started printing. My mouse was no where near the print icon. Other times the mail merge screen appears. When I'm in another window, with Word 2003 window decreased, and attempt to increase the Word screen using the tab at the bottom of the screen, it flashes, but no screen completely appears. I have to use the _ sign on the Word screen (upper right hand corner) to increase the Word screen. When I click on respond in Outlook Express 6 to respond to a message, sometimes the message that I'm responding to sends back to the sender instead of opening a "response" screen for me to enter text. (I know that this has nothing to do with Word, but I thought I'd through that in just in case it might be related.) What do I do. I'm at my wit's end. Troubleshooting tips I've tried: Contacted HP for my printer. They had me do a test print and check for the latest driver. Everything was fine. They also said there was no problem with the printer then. I contacted Dell to see if I was having a mouse problem. They had me change the mouse pointer speed, which helped for a while, but then the problems started again. I ran a Virus Scan, which detected no viruses, trojans or worms. I ran Ad-aware, which found several spyware programs, which I deleted. The problems still persisted. I cleared my cookies and temporary internet files, but that didn't help. I turned off the computer and rebooted, but that only helped for a little while. I have Windows XP with service pack 2 512 MB of RAM, or 502 without the video card Office 2003 Outlook Express 6. Any help would be appreciated. |

prints more than one copy and other issues
Hi Toody
It sounds to me like you think you're doing one click and the mouse thinks you're doing two. So I would try reducing the double-click speed for your mouse. To do that, Start Control Panel Printers and other Hardware Mouse. Now, reduce the double-click speed and do a few tests to make sure it's OK. In the same dialog box, make sure that Click Lock is off. Finally, are you using a laptop with a touch pad? If so, either turn it off or reduce its settings. It may be getting in the way. Hope this helps. Shauna Kelly. Microsoft MVP. http://www.shaunakelly.com/word "Toody" wrote in message ... I would also recommend clearing out any other temporary files that remain on
