Default printer
We are using Microsoft Word 2003 SP1, SP2, and SP3. Computers are
W2K, XP, and Vista. Problem: Our computers have multiple printers. If printer A is the default printer and I want to print the document to printer B. We hit File...Print and change the printer to printer B. From that point foward it stays at printer B, as it should. If I leave printer B selected and close word, the next time I open word Printer B is still selected. It is not the default print (in the printer list or under Printers in the Control Panel). Everything I have read says that when you close word and reopen it, it should revert back to the default printer. It is only happening in word, excel is fine. This is happening on all of our computers (100 plus). Is there a setting that I am missing that tells word to use last used printer and not to revert to default printer on open. |

Default printer
Choosing the printer in the Print dialog box should change the printer for
the current session of Word, only; that is, as soon as you have exited Word (for example by closing all of the open documents), you should see the default printer again. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP wrote in message ... Default printer
Note that if Outlook uses Word as editor, Word may not really be closed when
you close Word until you close Outlook also. It may be better to print from a macro that selects the required printer then reverts to the default having printed - see http://www.gmayor.com/fax_from_word.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Stefan Blom wrote: Choosing the printer in the Print dialog box should change the printer for the current session of Word, only; that is, as soon as you have exited Word (for example by closing all of the open documents), you should see the default printer again. wrote in message ...
