Default auto recovery is not working how to enable

My autorecovery says it is enabled. I looked and the item is checked under
Save, Autorecovery and I changed it to 3 minutes. Every 3 minutes, I'm
getting autorecovery is not enabled and to save the document as different
file. Any suggestions on correcting this problem?

See http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm

3 minutes between autorecovery saves is excessive aand will disrupt working,
Change it to at least 10 minutes.
Note that this is autorecovery and not autosave - see
http://www.gmayor.com/automatically_backup.htm

Autorecovery was set at 10 minutes and automatically reverted back to 10
minutes, but it still doesn't work. It keeps giving the warning message to
save as a different file. We have our backups set for 3 minutes also, but
they go to a different folder. Any other suggestions?

Unless you have some additional software installed, there is no function
within Word that will save backups automatically, let alone to a different
folder. If you have something doing that then it is likely that it is
interfering with the autorecovery process.

Did you attend to the measures indicated in the first link I posted -

Default auto recovery is not working how to enable

I just checked again and just the check box for backups is clicked and there
is no place to set the time. I reset autorecovery to 10 minutes, but I'm
still getting the warning. Should I reboot the PC to get this to take
effect. I did close down Word and restarted. It seemed to be fine for about
20 minutes and then started up again. I do have many different programs on
the PC, but nothing else was open and running when this started. Any other
suggestions?
