Hi troyw

AutoTexts are saved in templates. Unless you told Word otherwise, your
autotexts will be saved in your normal.dot. I would proceed as follows:

In Word 2000, File New. In the bottom right hand corner of the dialog box,
choose Template and click OK. Save this file and put it somewhere you can
easily find it later (eg the desktop). Note that it has a .dot extension,
unlike an ordinary document which is a .doc file.

Now, with that template open, Tools Templates and Add-ins. Click
Organizer. There are two white panes. The one on the left represents your
new template, the one on the right represents normal.dot. Click on the
AutoText tab, and copy all your AutoTexts to your new template. I would
avoid copying the built-in autotexts. Just copy the ones you created
yourself.

When you've finished copying, save your template.

On the new machine, do Tools Options File Locations. Note the location
of the Startup folder. Exit Word. Copy the new template you created in Word
2000 to that Startup folder. Start Word and your AutoTexts will be there.

For some information about how and why this works, see

Hope this helps.

Note that you may have both AutoText and AutoCorrect entries. They are
different. See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for
step-by-step instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up
customizations including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments,
toolbars, macros, etc.
