cannot update table of contents Field missing
When ever i create a document using the and Include a TOC, the document
processes fine but and a TOC is there, but it can not be updated. even if i select Alt - F9 no TOC showes? |

It sounds as if the TOC has been unlinked (using Ctrl+Shift+F9).

Correct, this is during a Mail Merge, there is a TOC and a Date If i select Alt F( prior to running the merge, it will toggle the feild, after the mail merge there is no toggle , no way to update the feild? What happened this was working last month? |

You'll have to regenerate it from scratch. Delete the existing useless one
and use Insert | Reference | Index and Tables | Table of Contents to make a new one. If you've never done this before, see http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/toc/CreateATOC.html In my previous post I missed your second paragraph about this being a result of a mail merge. Many fields become unlinked during mail merges (including most date fields), and I don't doubt that this would be one of them. -- Suzanne S.
