You had every opportunity to save or retrieve your document, and you blew
them all. A document is not saved unless *you* save it. The amount of time it's displayed on the screen has nothing to do with it (see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/AutomaticSave.htm). If you had closed Word in a normal fashion, you would not even have gotten the AutoRecovery backup, which would have saved your bacon if you hadn't thrown it away. And if you found the file in the Recycle bin, the best approach might have been to have used Copy to copy it to a document folder. Chalk this up to experience and resolve in future to save early and often. -- Suzanne S.
