Linking an Excel document to a Word document
Here is the scenario:
We have an agenda for a meeting where people will be on the phone and I'd like to have it so that they can just click on "Exhibit 1" which is an Excel file and it launches. Is there a way to imbed the Excel file within the Word file so it will launch?? Other options are appreciated as well... we use Outlook and Sharepoint. TIA, Erin |

It most certainly can be done. This is one of the few operations that is done
by the same sequence in 2007 as in previous versions: In Word: Insert Object Create from file Browse to the Excel file you wantand double-click it. Back on the insert dialog, click Display as icon. (If you don't choose icon, only what fits on one page will be visible.) If you plan to send the Word file to another system, DO NOT check the Link box. Links are saved as absolute paths from the root of YOUR drive, which in all likelihood be invalid on the recipient's system. Leaving Link unchecked embeds a copy of the worksheet in the document, making it available wherever the doc is opened. But that means that any subsequent changes to the original xls will NOT be reflected in the embedded copy. -- TedMi |
