Insert "Text from File" doesn't insert bookmarked text
Word 2007
If I use Insert Text Object Text from File... to insert the text of an entire Word document, the process works fine. However, if I enter the name of an existing bookmark in the Range subdialog and then press Insert, I get the message "File not found. Check the file name and try again" (even though it's the same file as the one that gets inserted in its entirety if I so direct). The bookmark is the bracket type (encompassing a paragraph or so), not the insertion-point type. Any ideas on how to get blocks of text from one Word file into another using this (or another) procedure? Thanks. |

What you are describing certainly works for me. Did you make sure to type
the correct bookmark name? -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "wal" wrote in message ... Insert "Text from File" doesn't insert bookmarked text
I figured it out, although it doesn't make much sense. We are
currently using "Compatibility Mode" in Office 2007. The source file was saved in Word 2003 (.doc, not .docx). In the Insert File dialog, if I set the file type to All Word Documents, I get the problem described here (even though All Word Documents does include .doc). If I set the file type to Word 97-2003 Documents, the process works (I can insert bookmarked text). Seems to be a bug. I can't reproduce that. Which version number are you using (look in the Word
Options dialog box)? -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "wal" wrote in message ... I figured it out, although it doesn't make much sense. We are currently using "Compatibility Mode" in Office 2007.
