Default header row that spans 3 column table

I have a three-column table of data on the 50 states that looks great. I am
trying to add one header row that spans all columns, in which to insert the
titles of the columns. Can you help me? The Word Help and Help Communities do
not address this questions. Thanks, Evelyn

With the cursor in the top row, click Table Insert Rows Above. The new
row will be already selected. Now click Table Heading Rows Repeat.
