Can you change the position of an equation caption to the side?
When inserting a caption for an equation, you can currently only insert in
below or above the equation. An equation number should however be beside to the right of the equation. Is there anyway to do this? |

What's usually recommended is a single-row, two-column, borderless table
(you can save it as an AutoText entry, complete with dummy equation and caption). -- Suzanne S. Can you change the position of an equation caption to the side
Suzanne,
When I try this in Word 2007, the caption feature tries to caption the whole table 9above or below it) rather than putting the caption in the right column. Is there a way to force Word to put the caption in the right column? Thanks, Craig "Suzanne S. Can you change the position of an equation caption to the side
Hi Craig,
There are a couple of ways to do it. This tutorial on using the Word 2007 Equation Editor can be helpful http://ist.uwaterloo.ca/ec/equations/equation2007.html including the link for equation numbering and cross referencing. For creating a reusable table set to keep equation captions on the right the steps in the demonstration of numbered equations here may help. http://blogs.msdn.com/microsoft_offi...numbering.aspx . The Caption field would be a variation of the numbering approach shown there. After inserting a Caption for an equation, cut and paste it into the right hand cell of a one row table, then save that table with an empty Equation control as a Quick Table that you can reuse. =============== "Craig Q" wrote in message ... The usual approach is a two-column, one-row borderless table, equation in
one cell and caption in the other. You may have to create the caption outside the table and drag or paste it in, however. A one-step approach is to create a dummy equation and a properly formatted caption in a table formatted as desired and save the entire thing as an AutoText entry. -- Suzanne S.
