Default page layout problem

I have '03. Somehow I changed my document so that it no longer fills the
page. I am getting a lot of blank space at the bottom. All the margins are
as they should be in page layout. I do notice that the side ruler no longer
goes to 11 inches. All the settings I have found are still for 8 1/2 by 11
paper. What did I do? I have tried reducing the margins to 0 but, I don't
get any closer to the bottom of the page. I have tried cutting and pasting
the text into a new document but, I am just taking my funky problem with me.

Default page layout problem

Sounds like you've simply gone into Normal or Web Layout View. If that's the
case just go to View Print Layout to return to familiar surroundings...
Although those views show _no_ vertical ruler. Should that not be the
solution please provide a more detailed description of the problem:

Is the vertical ruler visible _at all_? If so what _does_ it "go to"?

What do you see in Print Preview?

Is the text on the "page" it should be or has it gotten separated so that
only a portion in on the one page & the rest is on the next?

Have you turned on the non-printing characters (¶ button) to see if they
reveal anything that might account for the problem?

Anything else that you can offer may help.

See http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/WhiteSpace.htm for the ruler problem.
As for the rest, most likely you have an excess of "Keep with next"
paragraphs. See http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/BottomLine.htm.
