Default when I mark paragraph and change format then entire text affected

Recently I noticed very annoying feature in Word. Say, I mark title and
change font to bold. Automatically the whole text is converted to bold. So I
need to press button 'undo' to return the original state.
I tried to change setings (Tool/Options) and reinstalled Office -- does not
help.

Please advise
