Default Stop Word from selecting paragraph mark with text

I'm selecting text in Word and it automatically selects the paragraph mark
with it, so that when I cut it and paste it to its new location, it
automatically makes a new line afterwards. Is there any way I can keep it
from selecting the paragraph and only selecting the text? Even when I use
the keyboard it will select this extra space.

This should solve your problem:
Select Tools Options Edit tab and turn off "Use smart paragraph
selection".
