LEN()
I have a table in word and I would like to use the LEN function that is
available in Excel, to get the length of a word in another column. I have tried this unsucessfully. Can it be done? Help would be much appreciated. cbg |

Do it in Excel and paste the table as a link.

This is a useful method. While changes to the original (excel) document are
reflected in word, if I make changes to the table in the word document the corresponding column does not automatically update itself. I have to go back to the excel file to do this. Can I have it that I only have to work with the table in the word format? Thanks again. Hi CBG,
Word doesn't have a len() field function, so you need to use something like Excel or a macro. Cheers "CBG" wrote in message ... This is a useful method.
