Default remove the Read Only status

Have Office 07 enterprise on XP€¦

How do you remove the Read Only status of a WORD document? It is not marked
as final, and I didn't do anything to give it a Read Only status, I just
opened it one day to work on it and the title in the top bar is My Document
(Read-Only).docx.

If you look at the document properties via Window Explorer, it in not marked
read only.

Thanks
Bob
