When I open Microsoft Office Word 2003 and minimize it, after a while it
automatically closes. How can I prevent this?

this is certainly not standard behavior in any of the recent versions of
Word, so there should be something different amiss.

Are you in a corporate environment? TerminalServer, maybe?
