Default Double clicking check box opens options instead of selecting on/.

I'm not able to doubleckick a check box in a form that I emailed to myself
from a mailmerge. Instead the options for the checkbox opens. How do I just
select/deselect the checkbox option.

You are still in design view. Go to View--Toolbars, Control toolbox. That
upper-left button must NOT be active.

Actually this feature was not checked. Any other suggestions?
