Default Opening global template as not read-only--saving macros.

When I add new macros to a word document, then save the document and close
word; I receive a message that states "Word cannot save changes to the global
template because it was opened with read-only access. Do you want to save
the changes in a template with a different name?" If I try to save the
template with a different name, or if I ignore the message; the result is the
same--I lose the new macros I have created. This didn't used to happen, and
I can't figure out why it's happening now. Does anyone have a possible
answer or idea to solve this dilemna. Or, does anyone know how to configure
the global template so it will open as not read-only.

Thank you for your help...
