Do Insert Symbol and pick "Normal Text" from the font selection list. The
division symbol is in the 12th row. Or, you can just hold down your ALT key
and press the numbers 0247 on your numbers pad. (I like the keyboard
shortcuts, myself.)

Have you explored the Insert Symbol dialog? Division is character code 184
in the Symbol font.

As the others have indicated, the division symbol is glyph 00F7 in Unicode
fonts. If you use this regularly, you may want to assign a keyboard
shortcut; I use Ctrl+colon, hyphen. To insert the symbol, select it in the
Insert | Symbol dialog and click Insert; to assign a keyboard shortcut,
select it and click Shortcut Key..., then press your desired key
combination.
