Default Character Spacing

I'm interested in "otherwise correctly spaced," which seems to indicate that
there is a problem with the spacing between some words. If you are seeing an
inordinately large space, could it be that there are actually additional
space characters? Have you displayed nonprinting characters (Ctrl+*) to
check?

That said, you can change the spacing between selected letters (including
spaces) using Format | Font | Character Spacing.

Also, if this is Word 2007, go to Office Button | Word Options: Advanced:
Display and check the box for "Optimize character positioning for layout
rather than readability" and see if that makes a difference.

How do I change the spacing between two words in an otherwise correctly
spaced sentence (of words)?
