Default Word 2000 Font issues

I guess you could call this a font issue. I have a user that when he types a
document it looks like he is using "bookshelve sysmbols". He is the only one
with this issue. His language is set correctly at English-US and his font
states "ariel", but it looks like this.
+o¥7*|\+~œæðQµsHûVþEÎ*!Úk£i*-M½5çr:§ÏIUÚ(q4Fê . I have never seen this and
can not find a way to fix it. Has anyone seen this and is there a solution?

Thanks
