Mail Merge envelopes print off-margin on HP
I could really use some help.
Here's the story: I'm trying to print 6.5" x 9.5" envelopes using Mail Merge to import addresses from Excel. Ever since we upgraded our printer to an HP CP4005 Color LaserJet, the addresses print off-margin (approx. 1.5" to the right). Formerly, we used an HP LaserJet 2200 printer, and everything worked fine. We haven't changed any of the settings in the Mail Merge document since we switched printers. We use the 2200 as a backup, and both printers are connected to our network server. Mail Merge still prints envelopes correctly on the 2200, but for some reason, the CP4005 won't cooperate. All other documents, including other Mail Merge documents, print perfectly on the CP4005. Every document (including the problem 6.5" x 9.5" envelopes) display correctly in Print Preview. I called HP customer support, and the tech had me change the settings on the document as well as on the printer. He also had me reset the printer to its factory settings; but nothing worked. He told me that it might have something to do with the weight of the envelope being too heavy for the middle tray. This didn't make sense, but we tried using mock, lighter-weight cutouts of 6.5 x 9.5 envelopes, and we tried switching between the middle tray paper holder and the bottom tray. Still no improvement. Then, the HP tech said I needed to contact Microsoft. He said nobody at HP had ever encountered a problem similar to ours. My question is, how can I get this HP CP4005 to print the large envelopes correctly? Is there some change that needs to be made in the Mail Merge settings, or do I need to manually change some setting on the printer? All I want is to be able to print on the envelopes exactly what I see in the Print Preview. (WYSIWYG). I would appreciate any help. Thanks, sccmarie |

Mail Merge envelopes print off-margin on HP
The address on an Envelope is inserted into a Frame that is part of the
EnvelopeAddress Style. Adjust the position of that frame so that you get the address in the desired position. See the following page of fellow MVP Graham Mayor's website: http://www.gmayor.com/changing_envelope_layout.htm -- Hope this helps. Please reply to the newsgroup unless you wish to avail yourself of my services on a paid consulting basis. Doug Robbins - Word MVP "sccmarie" wrote in message ... I could really use some help. Mail Merge envelopes print off-margin on HP
Doug,
Okay, it's very complicated and confusing, but it worked! Thanks. sccmarie "Doug Robbins - Word MVP" wrote: The address on an Envelope is inserted into a Frame that is part of the EnvelopeAddress Style.
