Default templates and building blocks

Hi,

Building blocks is an interesting new feature. For some of my
templates it is a real advantage. But I also have templates where I
use building blocks that i created myself. In these case I find it
annoying that I have to browse to building blocks that aren't of any
use in that specific template. But I am afraid that by removing the
unnecessary building blocks in that that specific template, i won't
have them at my disposal in other templates.

Thanks

Default templates and building blocks

Hi Tom,

Where you store the templates that have Building block content can affect the method for having the building blocks available.

If they're stored in the
C:\Documents and Settings\yourID\Application Data\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks
they'll normally be available to all documents when using
Insert=QuickParts
in Word 2007.

If you store them in your Templates folder or another folder you can switch the template availabilty on and off using Alt, T, I to
bring up the Templates and AddIns dialog and Adding to the 'Global templates and Add-ins' list.

You can also, by using the QuickParts manager have partial lists of items appear by assigning them to the various preview galleries
on the ribbon, such as header, footer, coverpage, etc. where appropriate.

You can also use Office Button=Word Options=Customize=Customize Keyboard to assign a keyboard shortcut to specific building block
entries by selecting the 'AutoText' category.
