Default How do you "nudge" something in smaller parts than the defaults

I can't seem to find a setting to "adjust" the amount of nudging that happens
when I try to move an object. Left or right...it goes farther than I want it
to...and I just need to barely nudge it to get it centered.......seems it
should be simple...I feel..."duuuuuuhhhh"

Anyone know?

Thanks in advance.
