Default Import plain text footnotes in Word

It'd be great and make it much easier to convert plain text documents to Word
format if obvious footnotes/endnotes could be automatically found and
converted. For example some public domain ebooks have [FN#1] or [FN#12] to
indicate notes, and there could be hundreds of notes in a really long
document, so it would be ridiculous to select each and every one of them and
turn it into a footnote manually. An easy wizard for doing this would be much
appreciated. Thanks!
