Default Dropping heading numbers in bookmarks in pdf conversion

I'm creating pdfs from a Word document which contains index entries in
the headings between the automatically generated sheading number and
the heading text.

If I create a pdf from this, the heading number is dropped when
creating a bookmark from the heading, and only the heading text appears
as a bookmark.

The heading numbers appear correctly when generated from headings
without index entries.

I'm generating the pds using Pdfmaker (Acrobat v.7.0.5) and Word 2000.

Strangely, if I open Acrobat and create the pdf from there, the heading
numbers appear correctly.

Does anyone have any idea about how to sort this?

Thanks

Rachel

Hi Rachael:

I am afraid you have found the only way to sort this :-)

You must use "PDF Maker" to create a PDF with hyperlinks from a Word
document.

PDF Maker analyses the internal code in the document. You are plugging an
Index entry in between the generated number and the heading bookmark, and
it's getting confused :-)

Since I have a bad habit of putting Index tags in headings too, I also have
learned that you must put the Index tag at the END of the heading, not the
beginning, if you want to use numbering :-)

Purists put their index tags in the first sentence under the heading, but
why do things the right way? Sticking the tag in the heading is so much
easier :-)

Cheers
